Wii Sports Review

Wii Sports Feature

  • 5 Games in 1: Boxing, Bowling, Golf, Tennis, Baseball
  • This is the standalone game - this game also comes bundled with the Wii

Wii Sports Overview

Description A compilation of simple, Wii-playable sports games. Included sports are Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Boxing and Bowling. All of these sports games have a stylized look that's designed after classic 8-bit game designs but brought to life with full 3D technology. Although each game will concentrate on the core mechanics of hitting a ball, swinging a racquet, and putting with a club, the games will offer full (albeit simplified) sports experiences of whole games in Baseball and Tennis as well as multiple holes to play in Golf. Also compatible with the Mii avatar system for a more personalized experience.

Wii Sports Specifications

Bundled with Wii, Wii Sports introduces a whole new way to play your game. This is what video games should be: fun for everyone. Wii Sports offers five distinct sports experiences, each using the Wii Remote controller to provide a natural, intuitive and realistic feel. To play a Wii Sports game, all you need to do is pick up a controller and get ready for the pitch, serve or that right hook. If you've played any of these sports before, you're ready for fun!

Play Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling and Boxing in the comfort of one's living room. No ball boys scurrying about, no oil from the alleys to get players dirty and no rain to keep anyone from a day at the court, park or course. Use the Wii Remote controller to mimic the actions of swinging a racket, bat or club, roll a ball down an alley or bring the left jab.

Players can use their own Mii caricatures in the game and play them against their friends' Miis for a more personalized experience. As players improve, their Miis' skill levels will increase, so that they can see exactly how much better they've become.

People of all skill levels can pick up and play any of the games in the unprecedented Wii Sports package, making this truly a title for everyone!

Sports With an Over-the-Top, Mario Twist

Mario Sports Mix is an arcade style sports game that pits your favorite Nintendo characters against each other in four action-packed sports genres. Sports include: basketball, dodgeball, volleyball and hockey. Hockey fans will enjoy the ability to play both on the ice, as well as on the field. Characters that players can expect to see include: Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Wario, Waluigi, Yoshi, Toad, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong and others that will be revealed in-game. Characters each possess general abilities, but also have particular play styles, some being faster, stronger, all-around stronger than others or more precise than others. In addition to this, players are able to disturb the play of opponents using Nintendo themed means, for instance koopa shells, banana peels and walking bombs. Each player also possesses their own nearly unstoppable special ability, which can be unleashed after they fill their individual power gauges. Also, players will collect coins and gather multipliers, bonuses and other special items as they play and also as they succeed against opponents.

    Multiplayer Support

Although Mario Sports Mix can be enjoyed as a single player game, it is built from the ground up with multiplayer fun in mind. All sports featured in the game include both a local cooperative multiplayer option for up to four players, as well as a four-player competitive multiplayer option in two-on-two action. The game also features two-on-two online multiplayer against friends, or random players.

    Key Game Features

    • Your favorite Nintendo characters battle in four sporting events: basketball, volleyball, hockey and dodgeball. The basic rules of the games remain in play, but each also includes special Nintendo flavored elements like coins and special items that ramp up the craziness and fun.
    • Along with standard play, gathering coins will build up bonus points. So when players score a point or basket, they also get the added bonus.
    • Players can collect items like a koopa shell to use against their opponents, even using special items to beat up on the other team while shooting or spiking.
    • Every character has a signature move that's almost impossible for opponents to stop. A sampling of these include Mario's fireball moves or Princess Peach's heart-filled attacks.
    • Use a variety of tricks to keep opponents guessing at your next move.
    • Multiplayer support in every sport includes cooperative play with up to three friends or competitive action with up to four players in two-on-two matches.

A Little Box With Plenty of Power
As with every console, much of the buzz about the Wii revolves around its specs. The Wii boasts 512 MB of internal flash memory, two USB 2.0 ports, and a slot for SD memory expansion. The system’s technological heart -- a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway" and a graphics chipset from ATI code-named "Hollywood" -- deliver stunning performance. And instead of a tray, Wii uses a single, self-loading media bay that plays both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system, as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. An additional, and often overlooked, benefit of the Wii is that it uses a fraction of the power of other current gaming consoles on the market, saving energy and money both when it is on and off.

    Wii MotionPlus Accessory Included
Simple. Intuitive. Easy to use. Connect the Wii MotionPlus accessory, included with your bundled copy of Wii Sports Resort, to your Wii Remote controller, included with your Wii, to increase accuracy and enhance play control on compatible games. (Wii MotionPlus must be used with a Wii Remote) Wii MotionPlus contains additional sensors that make the Wii Remote respond to the slightest movement, motion, or twist of the wrist. Along with Wii Sports Resort, the MotionPlus accessory is compatible with a continually growing list of games. Refer to the Wii MotionPlus/Wii Sports Resort packaging, or the Nintendo website for details on the full list of games that are designed for use with Wii MotionPlus.

    A Channel for Everyone
More than just a game machine, Wii also provides a wealth of information and entertainment suitable for every member of the family via its system of on-screen channels. Some of the channels available include:

    • Mii Channel - Miis are cute little caricatures you create to use as characters in a variety of Wii software. Store Miis on your Wii or load them onto your Wii Remote and take them over to a friend’s house to use on their Wii.
    • Everybody Votes Channel * - The Everybody Votes Channel is packed with national and worldwide polls. Answer interesting questions and have your say. Up to six members of your family can vote. Just choose an answer and check in later to see the results.
    • News Channel * - Wii might be great for games, but you can also use it to get updates on the latest news from across the Internet organized into easy-to-browse categories.
    • Forecast Channel * - Your Wii can automatically update you on the weather from around the globe.
    • Wii Shop Channel * - Download the Opera web browser and access games from classic consoles from the past. All you need is a Wii Points account.
    • Virtual Console - Every Virtual Console game you download from the Wii Shop Channel appears in the Wii Menu as a separate Channel ready to select and play any time you like.
    • Wii Message Board - Leave or receive messages for other family members on the calendar-based message board or use WiiConnect24 to send messages to people outside your home.
    • Internet Channel * - Just download the Opera browser and within minutes, you’ll be a professional sofa surfer, pointing-and-clicking your way around the web with your Wii Remote.
    • Photo Channel - Show off all your digital photos on your TV. Just insert an SD memory card into your Wii and away you go.
    • Disc Channel - The Disc Channel is backwards compatible with Nintendo GameCube, so you can play all your new Wii discs, along with all your classic Nintendo GameCube discs too.
    • Check Mii Out Channel - This is the place for Miis to mingle. You can show off your Mii creations and download Miis that others have created. You can also participate in Mii contests by creating and judging Miis for a specific contest theme.
    • Nintendo Channel - This is your own interactive guide to what’s new in the world of Nintendo, including trailers, mini-documentaries, product demonstrations, gameplay videos and much more.
    Wii Remote and Nunchuk Controllers
Wii is all about the motion controlled freedom and flexibility of the Wii Remote. No bigger than a small traditional remote control, the wireless Wii Remote is a truly multifunctional device. The magic of the Wii Remote's design lies within; accelerometers inside the controller measure movement in all directions and at all speeds. For example, in the included Wii Sports tennis game, it serves as your racket as you swing away. In driving games it serves as a steering wheel, allowing you to swerve to avoid obstacles or pickup power-ups. In first-person shooters, it acts as a firearm that you can point directly at an on-screen enemy. The controller also has a force feedback "Rumble" feature and an expansion port for use with accessories, such as the Nunchuck, which adds an analog thumbstick and trigger buttons. The system allows for up to four controllers to be linked at a time and utilizes standard Bluetooth wireless technology. For those who prefer the feel of a traditional controller an adapter is available that fits over the Wii's remote.

    Key Console Bundle Features

    • Console Bundle Extras - Bundle extras including Wii Sports Resort and the Wii MotionPlus accessory. (Wii Sports is also included)
    • Intuitive Controls - Intuitive controls utilizing the physical motion of the Wii Remote. Up to four Wii Remote controllers can be connected at once using wireless Bluetooth technology. The wireless signal can be detected within 10 meters of the console. Both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers include motion sensors. The Wii Remote controller also includes a speaker, rumble feature and expansion port, and can be used as a pointer within five meters of the screen.
    • Wii Channels - The Wii Menu is the main gateway for a variety of easy-to-use, interactive multimedia, entertainment and communication functions.
    • Memory Expansion and Ports - The Wii console has 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in wired and wireless broadband Internet capability. A bay for an SD memory card (sold separately) lets players expand the internal flash memory and launch downloaded games directly from the cards. In addition, the console contains four ports for classic Nintendo GameCube controllers, two slots for Nintendo GameCube Memory Cards and an AV Multi-output port for component, composite or S-video.
    • WiiWare and Virtual Console - Along with games on disc, Wii owners gain access to a world of downloadable games via the WiiWare and Virtual Console game services using purchasable Wii Points.
    • Parental Controls - Wii features easy-to-use parental controls that allow users to manage access to Wii game software based on the ESRB rating, restrict access to various channels, limit the ability of users to send and receive messages or prohibit the use of Wii Points in the Wii Shop Channel.
    • Netflix Movies - Stream movies instantly through you Wii with disc-based Netflix functionality. (Netflix unlimited account, Netflix disc and suitable broadband connection required)
    Games Included
    Wii Sports Resort game logo
The New Standard in Game Control
Wii Sports Resort is an immersive, expansive active-play game that includes a dozen fun resort-themed activities. It maintains the wide-ranging appeal that attracted millions to the original Wii Sports. Wii Sports Resort is easy to pick up and play, but comes coupled with deeper levels of play that are sure to challenge even the most experienced gamers. Wii Sports Resort whisks players away to a resort that's full of action, while introducing an unprecedented experience in physical reality. Wii Sports Resort comes bundled with a Wii MotionPlus accessory to provide players the most realistic, immersive experience possible – the slightest tilt, turn and twist of the Wii Remote controller is recognized. From the moment players skydive onto Wuhu Island, they're presented with a huge selection of fun activities that everyone can play.

    Key Game Features

    • Wuhu Island has so many things to do, there's never a dull moment. A dozen activities await visitors: Archery, Frisbee, Basketball, Cycling, Canoeing, Power Cruising, Table Tennis, Air Sports, Bowling, Swordplay, Golf and Wakeboarding.
    • The activities use the precision controls of the Wii MotionPlus accessory to help players come much closer to the physical reality of engaging in the actual sports. Every real-world action, whether it's a perfect drive on the fairway or a slice off the course, is meant to be faithfully replicated.
    • Each activity has multiple fun challenges designed to keep visitors coming back for more. Basketball players might compete in a three-point shootout or jump into a three-on-three pickup game. Archery enthusiasts must aim for the bull's-eye across ever-increasing distances and obstacles.
    • Different activities use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers in different ways. For example, players hold the Wii Remote like a paddle in Canoeing, while in Cycling they use both arms to "pedal" with the two controllers. The Wii MotionPlus accessory picks up every nuance of motion and translates it onto the TV screen.
    • Depending on the activity, players can compete solo or against other players. Some activities even let players team up to work cooperatively.

    Wii Sports game logo
A Sports Party in Every Box
One of the most popular Wii party games of all time, Wii Sports offers five distinct sports experiences, each using the Wii Remote to provide a natural, intuitive and realistic feel. Players can use their own Mii caricatures in the game and play them against their friends' Miis for a more personalized experience. As players improve, their Miis' skill levels will increase, so that they can see exactly how much better they've become.

    Key Game Features

    • Tennis (1-4 players): Players grab the Wii Remote like a racket and swing – the game registers forehands, backhands, volleys, lobs, slices, spin and power depending on how fast the user swings and at what angle. Don't worry about moving around the court to get to the ball – the game automatically moves players into position.
    • Baseball (1-2 players): Players grip the Wii Remote like a bat and swat fastballs out of the park, or fire a fastball over the plate with a flick of their wrist. Timing and bat speed will make all the difference between going yard and whiffing, so keep an eye on the ball and swing for the fences. In the two-player game, one player pitches and the other bats – all fielding and running is automatic, so that players can focus on the action.
    • Golf (1-4 players): Step up to the tee, hold the Wii Remote like a golf club and swing naturally to smack the ball onto the green. The harder players swing the club, the farther the ball will fly. Be careful, though – if players swing too hard, their ball will fly out of control, so they should be sure to take some practice swings before going for the pin. After reaching the green, line up putts carefully, practice the stroke and try to hole out.
    • Bowling (1-4 players): Players raise the Wii Remote in their hand just like a bowling ball, and then swing their arms to roll the ball. The speed of the swing and the angle at which they release the ball affects the ball's spin, so it will take some practice to master control over the ball and knock down the pins.
    • Boxing (1-2 players): Using the Nunchuk controller as one glove and the Wii Remote as the other, players dodge, weave and punch their opponents. Players hold their hands high to guard their faces or low to block their torsos. They punch high to hit their opponents' faces or low to get under their guard for a body blow. Swing both arms left or right to sidestep oncoming blows and move into position for a devastating knockout.

    What's in the Box

So, how does one ensure that the exercises that you are doing even come close to the exhaustive work that is done on and NFL gridiron: Total Body Tracking. EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp's Total Body Tracking is measured via an advanced trio of sensors that correspond to points on the user's body. As the user goes through the various drills, challenges and resistance band improved strength training exercises that make up the in-game NFL Combine 60-Day Challenge, the included EA Active USB receiver allows EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp to accurately measure heart rate, calories burned and provide wireless motion tracking. EA Sports Active Review

If you told me five years ago that I'd be working out in front of a video game, I'd have said you were crazy. The gym was the only place to get a real workout, duh.

Yeah. Well. Now I find myself with two very young children and a full-time job. There is literally not enough time for me to go to the gym. And trust me, I have tried. But with driving there and parking and getting changed and sometimes waiting for a machine, never mind the workout itself, the gym is a 2 hour process. No matter my intentions, it just was not happening often enough.

Frustrated, I started brainstorming for solutions. I figured that some exercise would be better than no exercise, and that even on my busiest days I could squeeze in a half hour in my own living room. So I started by buying some exercise DVDs. They were okay, but I'm a pretty clumsy person, and I've always had a lot of trouble following the perfect-flexible instructors you see in those videos. After injuring my knee trying to follow one routine, I figured there had to be a better way.

    Enter the Wii.

I dithered for a while, trying to decide between EA Active and Wii Fit Plus. I think I read every single review on both products, which didn't really help at all, since both programs have such fierce defenders and detractors. In the end, I went with EA Active simply to save forty dollars over Wii Fit Plus.

I don't know how I would've liked the Wii Fit Plus, but I do know that I LOVE EA Active, and do not regret the decision for a minute. I was in moderately decent shape when I purchased this game, but from the first time I used it I could feel the difference in some muscle groups. I work up a mid sweat on the "medium" setting, and a serious sweat on the "hard" setting. Is it a complete gym workout? Probably not. But it does burn calories, it does challenge your muscles, and it's fun and convenient. This is then longest I've been able to stick to a routine since my children were born, and in the end that is what matters most. I'm moving, I'm enjoying it, I'm coming back for more. EA Active has met and surpassed my expectations for Wii exercise, overall.

Of course, like anyone, I have quibbles:

. As others have mentioned, the resistance band is wholly inadequate and you'll want to buy a new one.

. The nun chuck wire is annoying. 99% of the time, I don't notice it, but when I do notice it, it's because I'm tripping over it or it's preventing me from doing the exercise properly. This is not EA Active's fault, but it is the single biggest flaw of the game.

. The program does not always register my movements properly. This is a problem with any Wii game - the technology just isn't perfect - but it's annoying to have the personal trainer correct me on something I'm not actually doing wrong.

. There is not an adequate cool down built in to the 30 Day Challenge. A 2 minute walk doesn't cut it, they should really include stretches to reduce the possibility of injuries. This is why I did not give the game 5 stars. The designers of this game can't help that the nun chuck has a cord, but there is no excuse for neglecting the cool down phase.

All in all, those real are minor quibbles. This game is so much more engaging than trying to follow a DVD that is the same over and over and over again. And more effective, in my opinion, because this game gives you feedback on your form and helps you out. Sure, it's not perfect, but at least it's some feedback based on how your biddy is actually moving. As I learned the hard way, you can do a DVD with improper form for weeks, and never know it until you're injured. Add a good cool down and a few other tweaks, and it will be hard to beat this game.

    EA Sports Active Specifications

Developed in collaboration with fitness expert Bob Greene, best known as Oprah's personal trainer, EA SPORTS Active provides a fun, inexpensive and easy to maintain regimen designed to encourage physical fitness and healthy living. Gameplay
Designed around the standard Wii Remote/Nunchuck tethered controller configuration, EA SPORTS Active's interactive fitness program is more focused on physical activities than previous 'fitness' titles for the Wii, but still challenges you to have fun while developing a more healthy lifestyle. Separated into the three sections of workout, nutrition, lifestyle, and other activity, the user's experience begins with a pep talk from Bob Greene which quickly transitions into the beginnings of action as players set up profiles, choose a virtual personal trainer and enter baseline data like age, weight, gender, fitness goals, etc. Although the nutrition, lifestyle, and other activity sections add a holistic element facilitated by a mix of surveys and data input, building fitness through physical activity is the driving force behind EA SPORTS Active and as such the meat of the content resides in the workout section. Here players will find dozens of themed strength training and cardio workouts which can be customized as you choose and linked into circuit traning routines. These routines are introduced and monitored by your personal trainer, and allow for ongoing player motivation via real-time feedback on your workout form, an approximation of calories burned and the ability to adjust levels of exercise intensity.

    Accessories
Although activity in EA SPORTS Active flows exclusively through the combination of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck controllers, it also utilizes a few additional accessories to maximize the functionality of this configuration. The first of these included with the game is the controller leg strap. By attaching this to their upper thigh and then slipping the Nunchuck controller into it, players can utilize the Nunchuck controller's motion sensing capabilities while it is connected to the Wii Remote to monitor their leg movements. This allows for cardio exercises like jogging and cardio boxing and strength training activities like squats. Also included with the game is a resistance band designed to increase the intensity of a variety of exercises such as bicep curls and shoulder presses and lifts. In addition, although not included, the Wii Balance board is compatible with many EA SPORTS Active workouts, but only as an optional added controller configuration.

    Key Game Features:

    • Active Fitness Made Fun & Easy - 20 minute circuits feature a variety of familiar activities that target upper body, lower body as well as cardio. Start off with a light jog, followed by bicep curls and get your heart beating with some cardio boxing.
    • Benefit of a Virtual Personal Trainer - Your trainer will be the focal point of the experience guiding you towards your own version of personal achievement. Feedback will be given throughout your workout, keeping you on track to reach your fitness goals.
    • The 30 Day Challenge - Take the 30 Day Challenge and experience tailor made 20 minute workouts to your level of fitness. Circuits will change as you progress each day, and EA SPORTS Active will track calories, intensity and progress throughout your journey.
    • New Way to Play - Slip the Nunchuk into the specially designed leg strap and hold the Wii Remote in your hand to track your movements from both your upper and lower body. A resistance band is also included to increase the intensity of exercises such as bicep curls and shoulder presses.
    • Workout Your Way - Circuits can be customized to your interest and fitness level. Choose your duration, intensity level & set your own goals for calories burned and workout score.
    • Workout with a Friend - Burn calories with a friend as you both workout through routines together in a co-operative mode.

    Summer Sports 2

    Thursday, August 19, 2010

    Summer Sports 2 Review

    Menu:
sound options, easy-hard difficulty of AI, left/right handed, game length choices (points/rounds), everyone against each other or team based, up to 4 players, no customization of 12 predetermined 20s guys/girls (with their own names) to choose from like original game (now better looking, more 3d & detailed). the only bad thing is sometimes instead of calling the player by the profile name, it calls it by the name the game gave that character, (that's a bit lazy).
you must select 2 players (don't have to on mini golf & shuffleboard arcade) even if one has to be an AI player. for turn based games (most are except the full "backyard style basketball & 3 player team soccer games), I just play both players & change the players to 2 human & play both. that way I don't have to deal w/the slow as molasses AI's turn. it's the one thing that pissed me off on the original game that is still here is you can't FFW the AI's turn. it also still tries to be like a human & has it scroll through choices slowly before deciding & the final action. ~roll eyes~
the loading times during menu choices are instantaneous & for game loading it's pretty quick & while you wait you can scroll through the 3 page instructions, motion pics & rules of that game (great idea).
    Graphics:
VERY beautiful fantasy theme art (use of colors/glowing lights, flowers, stone statues, like a zelda/easter island wannabe), w/PS1-PS2 graphics. very nice use of many textures, but graphics still blocky. it's MUCH better then the first SS, much better then most overly cartoony/boring, hard to see 2D mini game collection titles.
    Sounds:
done well, goes well w/the theme & always has an upbeat feel w/great island drum & percussion focus. there are a couple of songs.
    Unique features:
can "taunt" the person who's turn it is by hitting the d-pad on your wiimote to make random sounds (ringing phone, animal growling, doorbell, etc.) on their remote speaker. has stats of every aspect of your gaming, what accolades/awards/acheivements you've earned (shows what you earned so far at end of games as well, time playing, favorite games, how many points you've earned & title status (has 7 starting w/beginner, then novice, etc.,), etc. in general & on details of all the games individually. accolades are for instance, getting certain points in a round, getting all bad targets, never missing, throwing the bocce ball out of bounds, getting a really bad score, doing a special move, etc.
    Camera:
many games have zoom ability; many games are a close 3rd person style w/reality eye level cam which is MUCH better then the original far/overhead cam style that other mini game titles also use.

    Games:
    Bocce -
simple controls, can drop the white ball in hard to reach statue or step crevices, past water or narrow ravine hazard. you also can also slightly control ball`s roll direction after toss w/d-pad, decent very close third person view, can do overhead zoom w/A button. uses a pointer near the white ball instead of a too easy trajectory line which I always found simplified the game too much on other mini game titles.
    Archery -
uses the IR to aim (so sensitive like real targeting), pull back & uses wind & gravity physics so you really have to think about arc, etc. great feature is that there are many diffrent targets at different distances & heights & the wind changes on every turn so you can't use muscle memory. only issue is once you pull back, the IR target does move which is good, but it moves stiff/slow which is still too easy.
    Football Target -
throw football at stone bulls-eye targets that pop up/down fast in blue/yellow/red colors w/obstacles also in the way. you lose points if hit red targets. you aim w/tapping thenunchuck stick which zeros in to the closest target so you can throw fast enough to actually hit targets. you also hold the stick in left/right direction to move your player since the play area is wider then the screen. has 5 diff patterns & some have where coconuts are thrown AT YOU. the controls are boring though, they should have used the IR instead & the nunchuck to throw, or something else.
    Soccer -
control all 3 players (including goalie) by switching (A) between players, can steal, kick, sprint, use nunchuck to control direction of your players. great intuitive controls that you understand immediately.
    Shuffleboard -
great look, usual style w/added ability to hit lily pads that float around the stone board for extra points. controls DO work, you have to HOLD A while in service stance or when pulling the wii mote back/forth for the power gauge or else it acts erratic. then push the puck w/B & wii push/flick. had a glitch/bug when my puck reached the other pucks w/o touching, they all slightly lifted up like a baseball wave (funny).
    shuffleboard arcade -
like bowling w/a puck & more a puzzle because there are also obstacles & lose points if hit other colored pins. no AI to be forced to play with
    mini golf -
9 holes, more puzzle like then cute as the original was, only uses small flame as trajectory indicator instead of too easy/long trajectory lines like other mini game titles. overhead cam is right overhead & bit weird to my eyes. no AI allowed to deal with, holes have steep hills, hollow logs, wind, tree branches, logs, monkey statue swinging obstacles, etc., not very exciting though.
    Basketball -
regular game where can steal & make baskets, etc.
    Slam Dunk -
kind of a a memory game, you do a series of different motions in a fast speed to do a complicated dunk & then get rated. 5-6 different types of dunks on each of easy, med & hard levels. easy has you do 2 motions & hard has 5-6 different motions & buttons to do as well. very weird idea, but original.
    Shot clock -
do many shots as fast as you can. sensitive wiimote controls to twist of wii mote & speed but done well like reality.
    Horse (basketball) -
can choose to bank, swish, bounce or hook the ball. you decide how to aim by using the IR to move the ball around the zoom of the basket & use physics as well as how fast your swing the wiimote.
    around the world (basketball) -
    usual rules

    What they did better -
artwork & graphics, instantaneous loading times except for loading a game which only has a slight delay & has instructions to read, camera angles, pointer instead of too easy trajectory aiming dotted line, intuitive & sensitive controls, adding a different styles to some old style games to add more interest/challenge, many choices in settings.
    What still sucks -
you can't FFW the slow as molasses AI's turn, some games may seem weird or boring, they shouldn't count the similar games as completely diff games, could use other sports like volleyball, dodge ball, etc., since it's really only 7 fully different sports.

other reviews: commonsensemedia & cheatcc (also screenshots)
    videos: youtube (has several)

    Summer Sports 2 Feature

    • Aim carefully as you draw your bow and arrow to hit your target. Toss a football with pinpoint accuracy to hit moving targets. Each game type uses unique Wii gestures which intuitively recreate the feel of the real sport.
    • Adventure Island has a whole new set of games for you to play. Choose from Football Toss, Archery, Bocce Ball, Soccer, Mini-golf, Shuffleboard, Ten Pin and 5 types of Basketball fun.
