Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None Review

This is a GREAT game! We started the game Monday night and finished it last night (Wednesday). It's a hard game to stop playing and I loved the clever mysteries within the story. Tha narration is also well done ,creepy, and intriguing. There is absolutely NO need fo a strategy guide or a walkthrough if you have enough intelligence and/or patience for puzzles. Clues are all over the house for codes & you can't get stuck if you talk to everyone and explore all areas. Your actions trigger the next actions. Search an area, talk to everyone, then search again. Easy enough. The only point we got stuck at was the second to last chapter when we couldn't find one of the guests. 10 minutes later we talked to everyone in a different order and were feeling stupid for our oversight.
I DO NOT recommend this game for inexperienced, casual, or impatient gamers however! Like Silent Hill & Resident Evil, advancing depends on figuring out how to put items together, where to use them, and who to talk to -but on an easier scale puzzle-wise. The controls are easy to use with the Wii remote and includes things like turning doorknobs and digging with a shovel, which adds to the interactive intrigue of the game.
It is also made by The Adventure Company who are known for their excellent puzzle/mystery games. If you can't sit still for a few hours to read a book, you would probably be better off playing Super Smash Bros or something similar. Also, it is impossible to die playing this game so you can really enjoy the story unraveling. To those who love only survival horror with constant enemies and battling crazy zombie/demons, you may be bored. I love many survival horror games but find an overdose of enemies around every corner to be distracting...
A final warning to people familiar with the book -the ending has been changed to suit a video game and to insert a playable character, but at the end you are treated to the end of the original story as a bonus in the form of a voice-over letter.
I can't wait to get the next 2 games!!

Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None Feature

  • New puzzles and mini-games specifically designed for use with the Wiimote
  • Breathtaking third person graphics that truly immerse the player into this thrilling mystery
  • A challenging murder mystery that will stretch the furthest limits of your imagination
  • 20+ hours of engrossing gameplay and fascinating enigmas to resolve
  • New twists-and-turns to the original story, plus a new character has been added - YOU

Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None Overview

Ten people, strangers to each other are invited to a lavish estate on a remote island. Through a recording their mysterious host accuses each of his 'guests' of murder and proceeds to exact 'justice'. The tension mounts as, one-by-one, the number of people are reduced through the ingenious plotting of the unseen killer. Prepare to play the 11th character in the video game based on the best-selling murder mystery of all time!

Bigfoot: Collision Course

Bigfoot: Collision Course Review

I have always been a bigfoot fan since I was young and now at 30 I saw this game and thought it might be kind of cool. The coolest part of the game is you can unlock some of the classic Bigfoot trucks from over the years, from the original to the 4x4x4 to even the one with those incredibly big tires. As far as racing games go it's okay. The graphics aren't the greatest and turning on some of the hairpin turns can be frustrating as the truck doesn't like to respond to the controller real well sometimes.

BUT, for I thinks it's worth the value especially if you are a Bigfoot fan. I just wish the game was more like the original Bigfoot game on NES where you would race another truck and then participate in events like car crushing, truck pull, mudd bog racing, hill climb, etc. I haven't checked out the Monster Jam series, but that is next up on my list.

Bigfoot: Collision Course Feature

  • Three vehicle categories - light (amateur) monster truck, Pro-Stock monster truck and Pro-Modified monster truck
  • Course configurations for each vehicle category
  • Monster Truck Power-ups
  • Variety and depth in racing environments

Bigfoot: Collision Course Overview

Since it's inception, BIGFOOT has been the leader of the pack in innovation and development in the monster truck industry. Get ready for some mind blowing 4x4 car crushing action starring "The Original Monster Truck: BIGFOOT!

Red Steel Review

This game is a steal for the price (I didn't misspell the title of my review get it the game is a steal!). It was a launch title for the WII and it has bugs just like any other launch but it is a surprisingly fun game and the graphics could be a heck of a lot worse for being on the WII. If you have a little spare change and are bored with FPS (I am the video game geek hated by video game geeks) then pick this up its great.

Red Steel Feature

  • Take full advantage of the Revolution controller - Replicate sword-fighting movements and eliminate enemies quickly by directly targeting and shooting them
  • Execute deadly combo moves using multiple swords, or use firearms for longer-range attacks
  • Harness your mental power to unleash powerful attacks -- use the focus system to freeze time and effectively target several enemies at once
  • Learn the art of Japanese fighting, then take out your enemies -- or gain their respect and loyalty by sparing them
  • Challenge friends with various split-screen multiplayer modes to you're the real master

Red Steel Overview

Red Steel is an exclusive Wii launch title that takes full advantage of the console's innovative controller and puts players directly into the action. Your fiancƩe has been kidnapped and her father - a Japanese mafia kingpin - murdered by a rival gang. The only way to save your loved one and defend your honor is to journey from Los Angeles to Japan and confront the Tokyo underworld.

Red Steel Specifications

Red Steel is an exclusive Wii launch title that takes full advantage of the innovative Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers and puts players directly into the action-packed first-person experience with the weapon in their hand - literally. An engaging storyline unfolds as you learn that your fiancƩ has been kidnapped and her father - a Japanese mafia kingpin - murdered by a rival gang. The only way to save your loved one and defend your honor is to journey from Los Angeles to Japan and confront the Tokyo underworld. By learning the ancient art of Japanese fighting with your katana and the focused precision of modern firearms, you will progress and adapt yourself to this foreign environment, where skills alone may not guarantee you victory.

An epic tale awaits
Red Steel is an action-packed first-person experience for the Nintendo Wii that will put the weapon in your hands like never before. The engaging storyline opens in Los Angeles, as Scott Monroe and his fiancƩ, miyu, arrive at a high-class restaurant. Scott is to meet Miyu's father, Isao Sato, an important business man from Tokyo. Suddenly, the restaurant erupts in a hail of gunfire as a group of Japanese mobsters (known as Yakuza) attack and try to kidnap Sato. Scott manages to save his future father-in-law. The Yakuza attackers run off, taking Miyu instead.

Scott soon learns that Isao Sato is the Oyabun, the Godfather of one of Tokyo's largest Yakuza families. The attack in the restaurant marks the end of a truce between rival clans that Sato had guaranteed. The Yakuza wanted to kill Sato and find his sword, the Katana Giri. The legendary sword was once used to punish dishonorable Godfathers, and has since become a symbol of peace. Sato was mortally wounded in the attack, but before he dies, he passes the sword to Scott in exchange for a promise to rescue and take care of his daughter. Scott has no chioce but to head to Japan and try to find Miyu.

Once in Japan, Scott seeks out Otori, a reformed Yakuza and an expert in the art of sword fighting. A friend to Sato and a man of honor and tradition, Otori reluctantly agrees to help. Otori trains Scott in the art of the sword. Meanwhile, another man named Harry Tanner teaches Scott all about the Japanese Underworld. Harry runs a night club popular with the Yakuza, and he uses his many connections to help Scott on his quest.

Eventually, Scott uncovers the man behind the attack of his father-in-law and the kidnapping of his fiance, a power-hungry young Oyabun named Tokai. With his mistress, Mama San (the head of the Geisha district and a female gang of Yakuza), Tokai seeks to take control of the entire Tokyo mafia. However, his real intentions are much darker and more mysterious.

With Otori's help, Scott must convince the Godfathers of all the remaining clans to join him in stopping Tokai. Kenzo, leader of the Financial Clan, Tetsuo, boss of the Game Fighting Clan, along with the heads of all the other clans - all powerful men, all harbor their own agendas and ambitions. Scott must convince them all to join him in stopping Tokai, but who can he really trust?

Control the action like never before
Red Steel uses the Nintendo Wii controller in ways not previously seen in a console action game. By turning the Wii Remote itself into your gun or blade, players can shoot and slice their way through Red Steels ample story mode. When first equipped with a firearm, the Wii Remote will automatically sense the location and direction of your hand and aim the on-screen weapon similarly. As you rotate your wrist to add flair and style while picking off enemies, the on-screen weapon will mimic your movements.

Equipping the sword is even more impressive. When Scott has the sword at his disposal, the Wii Remote becomes a sharp Kitana as players literally slash at their enemies and run them through. The play style is incredibly immersive, and lends a realistic element to action games that isn't often seen. As Scott becomes more comfortable with his weapons, so too does the player, and the moves they can pull off with the Katana improve in both accuracy and speed.

Multiplayer swordplay
As if an impressive story line and immersive control weren't enough, Red Steel also boasts a number of local multiplayer modes. In these modes, players can challenge friends to split screen battles in various locales to see who the real master is. Try a sword only battle royale without cover and the ability to heal. Or, set up a tactical battle with pistols and flanking schemes for you and 3 of your closest enemies. Whether teaming up or going "every man for himself," Red Steel multiplayer offers a fun diversion to the title's main story.

Red Steel is an impressive Wii launch title from one of the most innovative publishers making console games today. From its opening cinematic to its realistic and quick-paced swordplay, Red Steel is a riveting and engrossing title worthy of Wii owner's time and attention. After a few hours of mowing down enemies with your side-mounted pistol and whisper-quiet Katana slices, you'll wonder why action titles aren't all this simple and fun to play.

New NUNCHUCK & REMOTE GAME CONTROLLER For Nintendo Wii Bundle

New NUNCHUCK & REMOTE GAME CONTROLLER For Nintendo Wii Bundle Review

Like many other buyers, I had my reservations about buying this product. It just seemed too good to be true. It turns out that it was quite true. The product arrived today in a small box and the remote and nunchuck were individually wrapped in bubble wrap. When I tested it out, everything worked perfectly. I'm not sure you can call this product new, seeing as how it didn't contain the original packaging, but given the price, I'm not going to complain about it. Buyers should note it doesn't include a remote jacket or wrist strap (if you need these, they can be purchased through Nintendo's website for a few dollars). You'll also have to sync the remote to your console, which, if you've never done before, is very simple. Simply press the sync button on the remote underneath the battery cover and the sync button on your console next to the SD card slot and everything should work perfectly. All things considered, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Battalion Wars 2 Review

This game is a fun shooting game, but at the same time a strategy game. This game is really fun!!! Singleplayer is a blast. You can always go back and replay a level. Eventually singleplayer will get boring after a month or two but it is still really fun to play. The machines for land, air, and water are all creative and fun to play in. Multiplayer is really fun. You can play in co-op, which is when you team up with someone online and fight against a cpu, assualt, which is when you play against someone online and you have to complete objectives, and my favorite skirmish. Skirmish is when you fight against someone online and you battle it out. There is a certain amount of time and you get points whenever you defeat an enemy unit, depending on the type of unit you destoyed. The best thing about this game is that you can be a unit and you can order the other units of yours what to do. It's also really fun because right then and there you can change who you are. You can change your unit type. This game is a blast. Get it.

Battalion Wars 2 Feature

  • Battle six armies through five theaters of war--each with unique commanding officers
  • Engage 20 single-player missions
  • Features five new naval units: Battleship, Frigate, Dreadnought, Submarine, and Transport
  • Play in three online multiplayer modes: Assault, Skirmish, and Co-op

Battalion Wars 2 Overview

Battalion Wars returns! Take charge! Take control! Victory is yours for the taking! Take command with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk: Taking the fight to the enemy has never been so easy! Command and control everything from TANKS and helicopter GUNSHIPS to naval BATTLESHIPS and SUBMARINES, and deploy an array of different SOLDIERS. Team up or go head-to-head over Wi-Fi: Connect to Nintendo WFC to battle against other players all over the world, or join with friends to play co-operatively. BWii features THREE MULTIPLAYER MODES and 16 unique multiplayer levels. Battle head-to-head in the SKIRMISH and ASSAULT modes or team up with another player in CO-OP mode. Tactics are everything: Control every aspect of the battle as you COMMAND UNITS, CAPTURE FACILTIES and advance toward your PRIMARY OBJECTIVES. When you're not actively commanding, TAKE DIRECT CONTROL of any soldier or vehicle in the field and leap into the fray! Action on a grand scale: Combat rages on LAND, SEA, and AIR as you command SIX DIFFERENT ARMIES through FIVE THEATERS OF WAR, each with its own unique COMMANDING OFFICERS.

Balloon Pop

Balloon Pop Review

I bought this game for myself because it was cheap. I spent 13.00 so, for the money I was confident that even if I didn't like the game, the loss would be survivable. I just put the game in the Wii about an hour ago, and when I first started playing the game I quit almost immediately because I thought it was really lame. I was about to take the game out and write it up as a loss, but thought I would give it one more chance before I went to bed, and it was really worth the 2nd look! I discovered that the reason I initially thought the game was lame is because I really didn't know how to play, but once you figure how to play the game is very addictive! Here's the deal: If you like Bejeweled you will more than likely really like this game. But, no matter what game you are thinking about buying you should read the reviews, and you should read reviews from other websites besides this one. I also go to Youtube to see the game play for myself.

Once you have done your homework you can make an informed decision, and sometimes you strike gold and sometimes you just hit pay dirt. Think of it like this..... How many times have you decided to see a movie after the critics slammed the film and said "don't waste your money" but, when you saw the film you loved it? Opinions are subjective. Games are only good for those who like that particular kind of game, but if the game is not really your "thing" then you will not be very happy with your investment.

Decide for yourself!!! Only YOU know what you like.

We Ski

We Ski Review

We ski is a fun skiing game that lets you explore the mountain, run races, and find clues along the way. It almost feels like you're really skiing. I don't have the balance board, so I just use the Wii nunchuk and controller. I'm sure it's more realistic with the balance board. It's nice you can use your own Mii, or create a character in the game. The game is more fun if you play with more than one person. I haven't tried any other skiing game for the Wii, so not sure how it compares to others. But this one is pretty good.

We Ski Feature

  • Intuitive controls - Fly down the slopes with your friends and family - Hit the slopes with up to 4 players to race, slice through slaloms, and traverse moguls as you head to the lodge for some hot chocolate!
  • As big as a real mountain - We Ski features 14 exhilarating courses, including runs for beginner and intermediate skiers, and black diamonds for the advanced skiers!
  • Race down the slopes and more! - In addition to races, freestyle, moguls, and slaloms, enjoy over a dozen other activities including Ski School, Centipede Races, Search and Rescue, and shoot photos to share with your friends on WiiConnect24!
  • Ski the mountain at night - Enjoy the kaleidoscope of colorful fireworks in the night sky as you perform night specific activities on all 14 courses!
  • Ski with your Mii or a customized character - Use your own Mii, or customize your characters with almost limitless combinations of hair style, body type, and more! And earn points to buy new skis, gloves, outfits, and more!

Arctic Tale

Arctic Tale Review

If your child loves watching nature shows and researching animals on the computer then this is a great game for them. My 9 year old son LOVES it. But, if your child is only looking for a game for the fun value, this is not the game you want. The graphics are poor and besides exploring and a few mini games, there is not much to do.

Arctic Tale Feature

  • Play as three different animals from the film
  • Both the Polar Bear and the Walrus have four attributes that relate to their survival
  • 24 stages and 8 stages on mini-games
  • Each episode will close with one of three endings
  • Over a dozen additional land and sea creatures are scattered throughout the sub-zero terrain

Arctic Tale Overview

The gameplay will evolve as the animal's age over eleven stages that take the player from snowy mountains, across turbulent ice sheets that are ravaged by blizzards, and into the frigid oceans that are patrolled by deadly killer whales. The stages alternate between free-roaming areas containing several mini-games to travel zones, which involve the player taking actions to get from one area to another. The travel zones could be anything from descending a cliff face from the mountains to the ice sheets below or surviving in the open ocean as a storm rages around you.

Driver: Parallel Lines

Driver: Parallel Lines Review

Seeing as how Rockstar felt the DS deserved a GTA game (which has become another in the list of excellent games released on Nintendo consoles that hasn't sold as well as it should), they may eventually take a chance and release a game on the Wii, or its successor. Until then, we have Driver: Parallel Lines. The story is split up into two overall chapters, one in the 1970's, where you're a young getaway driver, ***SPOILER ALERT*** and the other in modern times after you, now a middle-aged man, get out of jail for being set up three decades ago by your crew. ***END SPOILER ALERT*** If you take your time to explore, collect all 50 hard to reach/hard to find gold stars (every ten you collect, you get a permanent effect, such as increased NOS tank size or increased armor), and complete the story this game will last you a decent length.

One of my criticisms of Driv3r on the original Xbox was that the cars were simply too loose, and slid all over the place, resulting in many annoying crashes and retries. In this game, the cars handle much better, and some of them are actually quite fun to drive. There are three race tracks (off-road-esque, traditional track, and demolition derby) and two Grand Prix races in the world, in addition to various other "Hey pal, you think you can beat my record?" checkpoint ones, and they're all fun and can be completed over and over, as many times as you like, with any car (and I mean ANY) you want to use. The selection of cars is pretty good (you can take race cars you win onto the street), most seem to handle uniquely, and nearly all can be customized and upgraded. One thing I definitely am glad was put in this game is the ability to "save" any car you have to your garage, so if it's your baby, you don't have to worry about it getting blown up and lost out in the world because it'll just get sent back to your garage where you can pay to repair it (the same is true if you simply leave it somewhere and drive back with another). There are also motorcycles in this game, the Ducati-esque sport bike ***SPOILER ALERT*** you can get in modern times ***END SPOILER ALERT*** being both fun and one of the quickest vehicles in the game if you upgrade it. As far as I can tell, every single vehicle in the game is rear wheel drive, which makes them all fun to use on the off-road racers.

In the typical shooting game on the Wii, if you move your reticle all the way to, and beyond the side of, the screen, your character will turn the appropriate direction until you move it back in the center. This usually occurs in driver, but sometimes if you point too far off-screen, the character will stop turning, and you'll have to re-center the reticle to get it to respond. Another gripe is the function that the programmers gave to the Nunchuck's motion sensing capibility: a secondary steering wheel. This is a problem because you can't turn it off, so you'll find that you ALWAYS have to hold the Nunchuck in the proper straight-up position if you don't want your car to go veering off to the side. They thumbstick on the Nunchuck is already assigned to steering, so why couldn't they just have left it at that?

Lastly, the guns. You get your selection of a two handguns, two SMG's, one assault rifle, and one shotgun, ***SPOILER ALERT*** as well as a (entirely too fun to use) grenade launcher in the 1970's era, which is replaced with a (unguided) rocket launcher + minigun in the modern era. ***END SPOILER ALERT*** Oddly, no grenades or C4.

Overall, considering how the Wii doesn't have a GTA game, this is a decent alternative. It's also not as controversial, there being no prostitution, FAR less foul language, and no way to obtain/consume drugs. Aside from the annoying Nunchuck steering issue, my biggest complaint is that there simply isn't much depth to the game beyond driving, shooting, and racing. There are some "side jobs" you can take, but they add zero to the story and can be repeated as many times as you like.

My verdict: buy it if you want something for - to keep you occupied for a while.

Driver: Parallel Lines Feature

  • Authentic Hollywood-style action racing
  • Race in open environments, providing multiple paths to completing over 35 missions
  • Play against others in 8-person multiplayer
  • Control 80 drivable, customizable vehicles including cars, bikes and trucks with unmatched vehicle damage system
  • Experience 2 distinct time periods of a photorealistic NYC

Driver: Parallel Lines Overview

Driver: Parallel Lines defined action-driving as a genre. It's one of the first action games to incorporate online gaming and it epitomized Hollywood-style car chases is back. Discover TK, a driver for hire and free from conscience. Take part in an adrenaline-pumping story line of double-cross and revenge set in the New York underworld. Massive improvements in everything from Character control to AI to weapon selection effects

Go Play Lumberjacks

Go Play Lumberjacks Review

I was looking for a game that my 4 year old grandson could play that didn't involve super skills or killing people. Lumberjack fits the bill and he loves it. Since he has 4 year old reading skills I needed to play as well to get him started but it wasn't long before he didn't need much help. I found it to be great fun to play, too! If you are a true "gamer", as they say, and are looking for a real challenge this game is probably not going to satisfy you but if you are looking for just plain fun then this game will fit the bill nicely. And since my grandson talked me into letting him take the game home with him I will be purchasing another one before he comes back to visit in a couple of weeks. I highly recommend!

Go Play Lumberjacks Feature

Go, Diego, Go!: Great Dinosaur Rescue

Thursday, September 23, 2010

Go, Diego, Go!: Great Dinosaur Rescue Review

Another great version of the Dora and Diego games for young children. We bought the originals while we were searching for simple wii games our young children could play independently.

Very simple controls, very simple levels. They can miss getting half of the items and still complete the level without having to go back.

The controls are identical between the games, just with different backgrounds and stories, my 4 year old can play this independantly and it has a mode which will let an older childen or parent "assist", as well as sets of racing games that they can play together. My children go back and play through levels all the time.

If you want a game for your 3-7 year old to learn how to play on the wii by themselves, this is your game. I was thrilled to see the new titles in the series and will continue to reccommend this game to other parents.

Go, Diego, Go!: Great Dinosaur Rescue Feature

  • Explore 5 levels and search your way through Cretaceous Jungle and Volcano Cliffs to find your way to Egg Island
  • Travel back in time with Diego, Alicia and Baby Jaguar
  • Help Maia the Maiasaurus reunite with her family
  • Use more than 12 different Wii Remote motions to stomp like a dinosaur, climb across monkey bars, fly on a Pteradon and bounce over obstacles on a pogo stick
  • Grown-ups can join in using the Dinosaur Guide Helper Feature and a second controller

Go, Diego, Go!: Great Dinosaur Rescue Overview

In Go, Diego, Go! Great Dinosaur Rescue your child joins Diego on an epic prehistoric adventure on the Nintendo Wii. In this journey to the earth's Cretaceous Period, Diego, his sister Alicia and their pal Baby Jaguar travel millions of years back in time to the age of the dinosaurs to help Maia the Maiasaura find her way back to her family on Egg Island. In this amazing rescue adventure your child will explore a wild jungle-covered world filled with dinosaurs and volcanoes where they will have to climb rock walls, travel along monkey bars, solve puzzles and even jump on a pogo stick to help Diego’s friend find her way home.

Dino-tastic Play and Parent Approved
Simple and easy to pick up and play, Go, Diego, Go! Great Dinosaur Rescue is a platform-based game that will thrill young dino-crazy kids as they explore the game's five levels on foot, by water and atop Diego's skateboard. Along the way they will encounter many familiar and not so familiar dinosaurs, igniting a goal to identify them all. And with the game's 'Dinosaur Guide Helper' feature, parents can join in the fun with their own Wii Remote and encourage this curiosity as their child discovers the importance of helping those in need, the value of friends and just how fun learning can be.

New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat Review

We love this game! I remember playing Donkey Kong from my childhood and bought it at Christmas when we purchased our Wii. I purchased the new Super Mario Brothers, another throwback to my childhood, and have barely played it compared to the amount of time I have spent playing this game. My 3 year old asks me to play it just so he can see the "bad guys" and cheers me on the whole game. With the wii controls, you will also break a sweat playing this game. Worth every penny, the only drawback, its a one player game.

Bought this as a replacement since somehow I wore out the original that came with my Wii console. I did play it a lot, but had no idea I could wear it out.
Even after doing all the trouble shooting tips, it was the only CD that would not work, so I had to replace it. Love the games.

Where the Wild Things Are: The Videogame

Where the Wild Things Are: The Videogame Review

My six year old son has played many a Wii game this past year, but this one has very quickly become one of his very favorites. Why? It's so very beautiful and it really allows him to use his imagination. The challenges are somewhat basic but they're all exhilarating, mainly because the world you explore is fascinating and rich. Without question his favorite thing to do is fly with the use of Douglas's feathers; he spends a lot of time in the village flying to explore and then hugging the various wild things before dancing with them. Clearly there's something about this game that frees his imagination -- when he thinks I'm not listening, I hear him making up stories and games he plays with the wild things as they run and dance around the village. As a parent I really like this game much better than the others we have, as it's much less violent and much more imaginative and interactive than most. [Indeed, I have to sometimes encourage him to knock down plants with his sceptre because he would much rather grow Judith a pretty garden -- that's a change!]

Where the Wild Things Are: The Videogame Feature

  • Discover a unique and compelling story inspired by both the classic children's book and the live-action movie adaptation
  • Play as the mischievous Max and set off on a journey to the Wild Things' mysterious island
  • Run, jump, climb and swing across daunting terrain while using your scepter to battle fierce creatures
  • Team up with Wild Things, each with unique skills or talents, to help you learn new abilities, solve puzzles and overcome obstacles
  • Test your skills in exciting mini games and start wild dirt-clod fights in the Wild Things Village

Where the Wild Things Are: The Videogame Overview

Playing as the mischievous Max, players will explore the Wild Things' mysterious island, journeying over dangerous terrain, battling fierce creatures and interacting with the fearsome but loveable Wild Things. Through your adventure, you'll befriend and team up with the Wild Things - each with their own unique skills or special talents - learning valuable new abilities, working together to solve action puzzles, overcoming obstacles and have a rumpus of a good time! Following a unique storyline inspired by Where the Wild Things Are, the game will take players on a journey beyond the movie to explore the mysterious island of the Wild Things on an adventurey that you'll never forget.

Where the Wild Things Are: The Videogame Specifications

Put on your wolf suit and set off on a journey to an astonishing realm of imagination and adventure. In Where the Wild Things Are, Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book and the live-action movie adaptation come alive on your screen in a new way. Make mischief of one kind and another in an exciting, action-packed story that will have you romping alongside creatures straight out of your wildest imaginings.

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII Review

This game is fun to play but sometimes tedious for old guys like me. The flight controls are rather jumpy so that the planes don't execute the way you think you're telling them to.
Having to repeat all stages of a level till you complete it in its entirety gets rather tiresome.

I would say the old LucasArts PC WWII Battle of Britain game is much more fun and you have more control over the planes. I haven't played any XBox type air combat games to compare the Wii game with.

All in all I think it's the best Wii air combat game out right now. I'd love to see some new ones.

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII Feature

  • WWII's most epic and famous air battles. Experience the greatest air battles of World War II in famous locations from across the globe. Whether it's London, Berlin, Midway or Pearl Harbor, the player and his squadron will be tasked with turning the tide of war. The single player campaign has been expanded to include two all new missions that take place in the North Sea and New Georgia Island in the Pacific.
  • Innovative use of the controller. With 4 alternative control configurations, Blazing Angels will take full advantage of the motion sensor/tilt feature. Both arcade and simulator modes are included. Players can easily maneuver the plane just by moving the controller
  • Intense squadron-based gameplay. Command AI-wingmen and make use of each one's special abilities. The pilot's heroism and leadership will grow during the course of the twenty mission campaign. Engage in legendary air battles and lead a squadron of Blazing Angels to victory
  • Up to 16 players online
  • A large variety of realistic-looking WWII aircraft. Pilot 46 authentic WWII aircraft including the famous P-51 Mustang, and the British Spitfire, and planes like the Luftwaffe's Messerschmitt, and the Japanese Zero in multiplayer. Ten new planes are included. From the wing rivets, to the nose art, to the detailed cockpits, these planes look like the real thing

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII Overview

In Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII players test their air-combat skills as they experience the most famous battles of World War II. As a squadron leader players can fly up to 38 WWII aircraft in both single-player and multiplayer missions. The game features squadron-based combat in which each artificial intelligence wingman's specialized skill can be used to the pilot's advantage. As a squadron leader and ace fighter pilot you take command of your fighting craft with the Wii controller to experience intense dog fighting in the famous air battles of WW II. Pilots fly in close to Germany s industrial terrain during a bombing raid or emerge from the fog and cloud cover over London to engage the enemy.Format: WII Genre: ACTION/ADVENTURE UPC: 008888172642 Manufacturer No: 17264

Meet the Robinsons

Meet the Robinsons Review

Meet the Robinson lets players take control of Wilbur Robinson on his quest to return his dad's stolen time-machine. The game offers a good mix of action, adventure and puzzle-solving, while telling a slightly different story compared to the Disney movie. We enjoyed Wilbur's positive attitude towards helping and solving other characters problems -given that he needed their help in return, but still I always welcomes polite characters. The game requires a good amount of reading in order to use different menus, maps and instructions. The level of difficulty is easy to moderate and increases in the later part of the game. Overall Meet the Robinsons is good (but not great) single player Movie/Game, for kids ages 10 and up - even for those who did not see the movie. Disney's Support Website offers a Walkthrough for some of the levels.

Meet the Robinsons Feature

  • Experience large-scale, stunning environments like the Robinson's House, Lewis's science fair, Lizzie's Ant Underworld and much more
  • Travel through time to alter the past and affect the future, interacting with the characters from the movie
  • Utilize and upgrade the game's cool gadgets, like the Chargeball Glove, Disassembler, Scanner, Family Album, Havoc Gloves and Levitation Emitting Volume
  • Solve puzzles and complete missions, discovering hidden upgrades, new items, and adventure areas in an interactive environment
  • Play various Charge Ball mini-games and collect Virtual Reality discs to download new courts

Meet the Robinsons Overview

Disney¿s Meet the Robinsons, based on the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures animated film, is a time-traveling action/adventure game. Players will experience the adventure as Wilbur Robinson, helping him chase the dastardly Bowler Hat Guy and his diabolical robotic hat Doris through multiple timelines in an attempt to thwart their evil plans

Petz Rescue Wildlife Vet Review

I rented this game for my 10 year old daughter for 1 day and she got hooked on it.This is what she said. "Its a really fun game. You go all around the world to help sick and hurt animals. The only thing i don't like about this game is its timed. It may be a little hard for kids under 7, but if you're over 7 and you love animals, you'll love this game."

Petz Rescue Wildlife Vet Feature

  • More than 30 missions to travel around the world, healing endangered exotic animals, or to treat the animals in the clinic.
  • Use the Wii remote to perform realistic actions: rescue, diagnose and treat more than 22 different species.
  • Take care of your own baby tiger: feed it with a baby bottle, clean it, play with it, pay special attention to it so that it doesn't get sick.
  • Multi-player mode- up to 2 players. Rescue animals in competitive mini-games, among them: heal a turtle by replacing its shells as quick as possible, challenge your balance by helping your character cross the river on a log

Petz Rescue Wildlife Vet Overview

Join to the most prestigious NGO vet clinic of the world and heal endangered animals in your clinic and tour the world to rescue, heal and take care of wild animals. Most of them are endangered species like sea turtle, panther, giraffe, panda, zebra, and kangaroos. An injured baby tiger will soon become your little favorite and stay with you all the adventure long.

Petz Rescue Wildlife Vet Specifications

Fulfilling every child’s dream of protecting the planet and preserving diverse animal life, Petz Rescue Wildlife Vet allows young players to save, nurture and heal endangered animals. In the process they will face real challenges on the journey to becoming a great veterinarian, and possibly join one of the world’s most prestigious NGOs (non-governmental organizations).

Story & Gameplay
The game begins with players in the role of a young vet, who has just opened their first animal clinic. Through a series of more than 30 missions you will provide a number of veterinary services including caring for neighbors’ domesticated pets, as well as the local exotic baby animals you come across. These animals cover more than 22 different species including: sea turtles, panthers, giraffes, panda bears, zebras, kangaroos, elephants and penguins. Using the Wii Remote to perform various functions related to diagnosis, curing, observation and healing of these animals, you will gain a greater understanding of their physical structure and what it takes to keep them healthy. Eventually, the respect and confidence this knowledge gains you with your clients and in the community will open up a new storyline within the game regarding a mysterious illness that is affecting all the animals in the area. Investigate this to find out if the local factory could be polluting the rivers and thus be causing the animals’ diseases in a quest to put your skills to the test to save the wild creatures that we share our planet with.

Petz Rescue Wildlife Vet contains a two-player competitive multiplayer. Here using the motion-sensitive capabilities players race through a series of mini-games to save save animals in danger.

Ski & Shoot

Saturday, September 18, 2010

Ski & Shoot Review

Ski and Shoot is NOT your typical 'run and gun' game; it requires steady nerves, skill, good judgment, quick reactions, and patience. I'm halfway through the 24 event Pro season and just beat my chief rival by 3 seconds by conserving just enough Stamina for a sprint to the finish line.

Ski and Shoot is an addicting, fast paced simulation of the Biathalon, a sport combining cross country skiing and target shooting. An event consists of a cross country 'leg', 5 rifle shots at targets, a second cross country leg, another 5 rifle shots, and a final cross country leg to the finish line. A penalty lap is required for each missed shot (each miss adds about 10 seconds to the total time).

Like real biathalons, slower skiers can beat faster skiers by being better shots. Biathaletes have different skiing and shooting skills; so each event has frequent changes in leaders as hill climbing, sprinting, gliding, timing of moves, and shooting all come into play. As the game progresses, you customize your character by deciding what to practice; not only do you get better, but your character builds skill, stamina, and power.

Adding to the excitement are the different types of races. Mass Starts have all skiers starting at the same time; there's much jostling for position. Sprints have skiers start a few seconds about; you're racing the clock. Pursuits have skiers start in finishing order of an earlier Sprint; you're trying to catch and pass the leader.

The mechanics of skiing are handled well although a bit confusing at first. You have to steer while managing your Stamina and Power. You apply Power by moving the WiiMote and Nunchuck back and forth at different speeds to adjust to the terrain. Too much Power drains Stamina, but you have to drain some Stamina to win. Just the skiing is a constant adjustment of Power, technique (sprint, glide, or ski), and steering. I steer with the Balance Board although you can steer with just the WiiMote.

Shooting requires aiming, of course, and steadying your aim by holding your breath (A button). If you have low Stamina, your aim wavers. My sequence is: aim close to a target, hold breath, make final adjustment, pull trigger, and reload (Z button); repeat 5 times and get moving.

Each event in the game lasts about 10 minutes. There are three 'leagues', and you have to win a league before advancing to the next league. The amateur seasons are about 9 races plus the 4 yearly championship races. There's a lot of racing, but you need the practice to advance.

Punch-Out!!

Punch-Out!! Review

Talk about a homage to a favorite game from years past. The only thing missing from this game is Mike Tyson! Punch out is just flat-out fun. Not only fun, but good for you, because you will break a sweat playing this game. The motion-controls add an entirely new dimension to the gameplay. I haven't tried the balance board yet. The nunchuck is too much fun to abandon just yet. The cut-scenes are similar to the previous versions of the game and the opponents are hilarious. A few favorites return (Bald Bull, Glass Joe, Flamenco Kid...) as well as a few new opponents (Disco Kid). If you've never played Punch Out! before (or even if you have), get ready for some hilarious opponents and combos. The animations for knockouts, combos, intros, special moves, and post-fight are too funny at times. There are several game modes. My favorites is the circuit, although the CPU opponent has a tendency to fight cheap sometimes (unblockable devastating punches or knockouts just before the bell). Occasional cheap shots aside, it's a ton of fun to work your way up the circuit. This is a good family-style game. This is the best boxing game available, not only on Wii, but ANY platform. The only thing that would have made it perfect is if it had online head-to-head mode.

Punch-Out!! Feature

  • Players have the option to play using the classic layout from the original NES controller. Use the 1 and 2 buttons along with the cross pad to throw hooks and jabs or to dodge.
  • The ultimate boxing underdog Little Mac returns as the hero in this re-imagining of a gaming classic.
  • Large character roster including: Little Mac, Glass Joe, King Hippo, Doc Louis, Von Kaiser and others.
  • Players can obtain special 'Star Punches,' which allow Little Mac to take more Health from his rival in a single punch.
  • The Wii Remote/Nunchuk controller configuration allows players to simulate punching and ducking for a realistic boxing feel.
